A common question about Fortnite, especially for those just starting out, is changing the character’s gender. But unlike other games, Fortnite does not have a direct option with the default character, which is random, and therefore it will be necessary to purchase a specific skin, as skins are locked by gender.
Some skins have versions of both genders, but you will have to spend money in reais to buy V-Bucks, which are the currencies that the player uses to buy skins and cosmetic items. The skins have different price classifications, with some cheaper, and others more expensive, which can reach R$60, or a little more expensive (like Harley Quinn, which was on sale a few weeks ago).
Another option is to take advantage of purchasing special items that appear in digital stores. For example, the Íris skin, which costs R$ 15.50 on the PSN Store (on PS4). But you will use the character with those clothes, and if you want to use another one, you will have to change it manually in the Dressing Room menu.
Another recommendation from me (and unfortunately there is also money involved) is to buy the battle pass. Every 2 months a new season begins and new cosmetic items are always coming, including skins for both genders. In the current season there are the skins Maya (female), Agent Embananado (male), Brutus (male), Tntina (female), Miuáusculo (male), Skye (female) and Midas (male), which are among the pass rewards of battle. Some skins gain color and style variations, maintaining the character’s gender.
What Epic could do is always leave characters of the same gender in the internal options, but I think they end up keeping it that way to “force” the player to buy a skin. But Christmas time last year was interesting, because it was the first time I saw Epic give free skins for all platforms, with the Thematic Lieutenant (a guy in a Christmas tree costume) and Mammoth, of the girl wearing a mammoth costume.
Anyway, if you liked the game and intend to play regularly, I recommend purchasing the battle pass, which has at least 100 cosmetic rewards, from character skins, loading screens, hang gliders themed and stylish, dances/emotes, etc. This season is interesting because of Maya’s skin, where you can customize her by choosing some clothing options, colors, etc. But once you choose, it will no longer be possible to change, and you will have to think carefully about your options.
